Web Design

When I first started, I tried a web design company in San Francisco who advertised on Craigslist. They were inexpensive ($75 +$10 per page). They Had a decent website with some nice designs. They gave discounts to non-profit organizations and had some guarantees for satisfaction. These guys seemed ok through some emails and I figured it was just a couple guys starting out and thought I'd give them a chance. 4 months later and no website yet it turned out to be a mistake. They were either swamped with other work or just had no vision or creativity. It got to the point that I was preparing detailed diagrams of what I wanted the site to look like. So much so that my diagrams were getting so good I thought that maybe I could design a website myself if I could figure out some web design software. I tried everything from free html programs I found online to Dreamweaver. I was going nuts trying to figure these out..either too simple to do what I wanted or too complex and just gave me a headache.
